Mark wrote his Gospel to the believers in Rome who were being persecuted by the Roman government. Mark wanted to convey that Jesus understood what they were going through and that like Him, they are living for a greater cause. He wanted them to know that Jesus was the son of God, the promised Messiah, Lord of all. He was a man but He was God in the flesh. Though Jesus was hidden, He is now clear to see as God.
