We are living in a world that is in a doom death spiral. Everywhere you look our society is depressed and expecting things to get worse. To deal with this narrative, suicide, consumer debt, and pessimism about the future is at an all time high. What are we as believers supposed to do in a world that is expecting the worst?
Reading the words of John the Baptist, this week Pastor Carl talked about how those of us who have received Jesus as Savior can look to the glorious future we have with Him and spread it to the world around us.
John was quick to deflect any credit for his message, “It’s not me, I am not the one you are looking for. I am just a guy who is preaching what Isaiah preached.” He proclaimed. John had the secret to a life of fulfillment. That is to get alone with God and let Him speak a better future. Then share that with the world.
Paul saw had this same home. When he was chained to the walls of a dungeon he wrote to the church in Ephesus that God was able to do far more abundantly than we could ask or think. The secret to that assurance of power is found that third chapter of Ephesians, “that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”
This faith has moved mountains and defeated devils since man first met God. This holiday season, make it a point to move some mountains of unbelief by sharing your faith with someone near you. This Christmas, give Christ the greatest gift by sharing your faith with someone stuck in the death doom cycle of this world.
